When you’re a local, you can enjoy the fun of Hartford year-round. The key is knowing where to start.

Looking for ways to get acquainted with your new neighborhood? Check out these three fun Hartford events going on this April.

1. Annual Fine Art & Flowers

Welcome spring at the Wadsworth Atheneum’s famed 38th Annual Fine Art & Flowers! Horticultural enthusiasts from across New England create artistic floral arrangements and garden designs which are inspired by masterworks from the museum’s collection to showcase during this prestigious fundraising event.

More than 60 exceptional floral designs crafted by florists, garden clubs, and interior designers are expected this year. They will be displayed throughout the museum galleries next to the artworks that inspired them.

This unique art and flower show runs through the end of April. Proceeds from the event help fund the museum’s special exhibits, educational programs, and operating expenses.

2. Masterpieces from the Museum of Cartoon Art

Do you like adventures with a dose of cartoon whimsy? Why not head to the Bruce Museum and check out the Masterpieces from the Museum of Cartoon Art exhibit?

Running through late April, this exhibit showcases more than 100 original works celebrating the unique history of cartoon art in America. It includes representations of all forms of cartoon art, including magazine and newspaper panels, caricature and comic strips, animation and more.

If you love cartoon art and have to account for small children, don’t worry—the museum has several events for families and kids.

3. Get a Clue Murder Mystery Tours

In the mood for a mystery? Head over to the Mark Twain House for their Get a Clue Murder Mystery Tours.

In an hour-long tour, guests participate in a live-action play of the classic board game CLUE, featuring the famed comedy group Sea Tea Improv as Twain’s beloved characters/suspects.

The tour takes participants through each room of the Mark Twain House, inviting visitors to interact with some of Twain’s best characters to solve the mystery.
